Facility Worker


Reporting to the Assistant Facility Supervisor, the position of Facility Worker helps to provide supervision for Recreation facility staff at all Recreational Facilities and helps to ensures that all facilities meet current legislative requirements. They help provide a safe, healthy and enjoyable environment for any and all participants. This position may be fulltime or regular part-time depending on the outcome of the hiring process. The hours of work will be from twenty (20) to forty (40) hours per week. Hours of work include some evenings and weekend shifts. This position/positions will be a one year term with the potential for it to turn into a full-time permanent position.

Qualifications required include a valid Ontario G class driver’s license, a grade 12 Diploma. Certification and/or training in Fuel Safety, propane handling, pool operations, Arena/refrigeration plant operation and playground inspection is preferred. Equivalent training and/or experience will be considered an asset. Must have strong interpersonal skills for dealing with public enquiries and complaints. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills. Must have strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, good judgement to work independently and experience with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.

Compensation for this position is currently $19.17 per hour with potential for comprehensive benefits in accordance with the Collective Agreement. This is a union position represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 740.
