Message from the Fire Chief - February 2015

Strategic Plan

Every service organisation should have a plan, one that will guide them in the delivery of the services for which they were established. The Deep River Fire Department is no different and we have been approved by Council to set out on the journey of acquiring a Strategic Plan for the next 5 years.

Pomax Consulting has been chosen to work with a local project team in the creation of our very own plan that will guide the delivery of fire and emergency services for the period 2015-2020. Public meetings and directed consultations with various stakeholders will take place during March. The final version of the Strategic Plan is slated to be reviewed and approved by Council in June of this year. Stay tuned to our website for more details in the coming months on this topic

Smoke alarms

Deep River Fire Department relies on all of our residents to partner with us regarding fire safety. Your firefighters want you and your family to be in your front yard when we arrive! The best way you can ensure you are able to do this is with early warning of a fire in your home. TEST your smoke alarms! Test them regularly - make sure they have power and that you know what they sound like. Select a meeting place and practice your home escape plan.

Join our winter Push the Button smoke alarm campaign and together with your children you can make a difference in your fire safety preparedness. Check out our section of the Town website and get involved with TVOKids and the Push the Button smoke alarm campaign from February 23 to March 8.

Yours in fire safety;

Doug Tennant – Fire Chief
