Media Release - Deep River Fire Call Response - November 22, 2023

At 17:58 on Monday November 20, 2023, the Deep River Fire Department was dispatched to visible smoke at Deep River and District Health (DRDH) at 117 Banting Drive in Deep River, ON.

Upon arrival, firefighters made a successful and quick ‘knockdown’ of flames that were detected on the rooftop.

There were no injuries to DRDH patients, residents, staff, or emergency responders.

The Deep River Fire Department (DRFD) attended the scene with 22 firefighters, 3 fire apparatus, and a support vehicle. Deep River Police Service (DRPS) officers and Renfrew County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) paramedics also attended the scene.

A dynamic Unified Command structure, comprised of DRDH staff, DRFD, DRPS and EMS, was established to coordinate and implement an Incident Action Plan.

The Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) has been contacted and a fire investigator has been assigned to work with representatives of DRFD and DRPS to continue the fire investigation. The cause of the fire continues to be investigated.

Deep River Fire Department is a composite fire service comprised of full time and part time personnel.
