Temporary Pool Closure – February 25, 2025, Update

Temporary Pool Closure – February 25, 2025, Update

As part of the ongoing pool rehabilitation project, the facility remains closed to ensure the completion of essential work.  Please find the latest updates below:

Pool Roof

Work is essentially complete with minor work scheduled for the spring; however, this work will not impact pool operations.

Pool Lighting

Under the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) classification, the pool’s light fixtures were initially required to be replaced. To mitigate this, staff engaged an engineer to reclassify the building, and the ESA approved this adjustment. An electrician is scheduled this week to address the current lighting outages.

Dectron Unit (Dehumidifier & Heating System)

A dehumidification system is required for the operation of an indoor pool and supports building classification. The refurbishment of the Dectron unit is complete. However, during commissioning, it was identified that a software update and a new blower motor for the heating system were required. Due to supply chain delays, the necessary parts are still pending. A technician is scheduled to be on-site next week to complete this work.

Pool Operations

Once the above work is finalized, staff will proceed with facility clean-up and schedule the required health unit inspection.

We anticipate reopening the pool in mid March 2025. Please stay tuned for potential March Break programming updates.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
