Note: While the exact number of openings isn't yet known, this employment opportunity aims to build a pool of qualified candidates for upcoming roles.
Qualifications include; 18 years of age or older, possess a minimum Grade 12 (OSSD) education, and a valid Class G driver’s licence with an acceptable driving record. Candidates are required to obtain a medical note from their Health Care Provider (Doctor), confirming they are medically fit to perform the duties of a Volunteer Firefighter. Compensation for this position is starting at $23.00/hr, weekly on call premium of $236.00/week.
Once hired, firefighters will be required to participate in the department’s “On-Call Program and shall acquire mandatory Provincial certifications and licenses:
• NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Responder – Awareness Level within your first year of employment.
• NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level 1 and 2 and NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Operations Level within two years of employment.
• A valid Class DZ Driver's License within three years of employment.
• Valid and current Red Cross certification in First Aid/CPR/AED/Oxygen Therapy, Airway Management, and Basic Life Support (BLS) within your first year.
