Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission Open House

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) will hold open houses to provide information about the environmental assessment and licensing process currently underway for the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Near Surface Disposal Facility Project. The open houses follow the close of the public comment period on the draft environmental impact statement (EIS). The objectives of the sessions are to inform the public of the environmental assessment and licensing process for the proposed project, provide information about the proposed project, and clarify how the public can continue to participate in the process. In particular, CNSC staff will be available to discuss the content of the draft EIS and answer questions from the public about the project. About the sessions Our staff will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about: the way we regulate the nuclear sector the environmental assessment and licensing process for the proposed Near Surface Disposal Facility Project public participation in CNSCs upcoming public Commission proceedings related to the project the way we conduct safety checks, inspections, and sampling to ensure that communities and the environment remain safe
