Public Notice: Sewer Main Relining Project

Public Notice: Sewer Main Relining Project – May 20th – May 28th

The Town of Deep River is undertaking a sewer main rehabilitation project using the Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) method. This modern, trenchless technology allows underground sewer repairs with minimal surface disruption. Work will be performed using specialized equipment, including robotic cameras, robotic cutters, and high-pressure steam units.

Although little will be visible at ground level, residents may experience temporary odours caused by the synthetic resin used in the pipe curing process.

To reduce odours in your home:

  • Ensure water is present in all plumbing P-traps and floor drains.
  • Cover floor drains with a damp cloth and place a heavy, flat object on top.

If your street is scheduled for sewer main relining (see schedule below), please take the following precautions during the installation period:

Minimize water usage, including:

  • Showers and baths
  • Use of sinks
  • Dishwashers
  • Laundry washers
  • Limit toilet flushing as much as possible

These measures help prevent the risk of sewage backup into your basement while the sewer lines are temporarily out of service.
