Elections Ontario Portal to Update the Electors' List
In 2024 Elections Ontario became responsible for providing municipalities with the Preliminary List of Electors (PLE) obtained from the Permanent Register of Electors for Ontario, or the "Register." Previously this responsibility was held by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).
The Register is updated regularly with information from various data sources including Elections Canada, the Ministry of Transportation, and the Registrar General, as well as from the Register to Vote site.
Until August 12, 2026, Electors may visit the on-line site at any time to confirm, update, or add their elector information with Elections Ontario at RegisterToVoteON.ca that will be included on the Preliminary List of Electors (PLE).
School Support
Homeowners and tenants have until June 1st, 2026 to confirm / update their school support designations to be accurately included on the Preliminary List of Electors (PLE) ahead of the October 2026 municipal and School Board Elections.
To ensure your correct school support designation is provided to Elections Ontario in time for the next municipal and School Board elections it should be reviewed and if needed updated by June 1, 2026.
Whether you own or rent your home, your property is linked to a School Board - even if you do not have children or your children are not currently attending school. While you are not required to make a designation, you do have the option to choose which School Board you support. If you do not make a choice your support will default to the English Public School Board.
How to Update School Support Designation:
Property owners can change their school support designation on-line using MPAC AboutMyPropertyTM or the on-line portal for tenants. To begin, choose the option that applies to you:
A step-by-step guide is available.
Please Note: Registration may take up to 24 hours to activate.
