MEDIA RELEASE

November 17, 2022 – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CLOSURE OF A PORTION OF THE WEST END TRAIL SYSTEM IN DEEP RIVER

Deep River, Ontario

Effective Friday November 18, 2022 a portion of the trail system in the west end of Deep River will be closed to the public. The area outlined below will be closed for the remainder of November and December of 2022.

The next steps in a “proposed Shaw Subdivision Plan” in the west end of Deep River require a number of studies as part of the planning process. Minimal tree removal will be conducted to enable geotechnical survey work and topographical surveys to be completed over the next six to eight weeks.

The Town of Deep River would like to thank the Shaw family who have allowed the residents of Deep River and area to use their private property as part of the west end trail system over the past several decades. In a letter to the Town of Deep River from Jp2g Consulting, on behalf of Mr. Shaw this closure is referred to as a “Temporary Restriction”. Once the survey work is completed the property will be re-opened for public use during the planning and development stages of the proposed project where it is safe to do so.
