The 2026 Census Has Started

I am pleased to inform you that census collection for the 2026 Census of Population has begun across Canada.

Census data provide valuable insights for planning local programs and services in communities across Canada, including education, health care, transportation, and labour market programs. These data form a critical foundation for evidence-based decision-making across jurisdictions and help ensure resources are aligned with the needs of Canadians.

Households that received a census invitation letter in the mail with a Secure Access Code can complete it online today at census.gc.ca. The online process is confidential and secure.

All information is collected under the authority of the Statistics Act and will be kept strictly confidential.
