Voter Information

Information for Voters

In 2024, Elections Ontario took over the responsibility for providing municipalities with the Preliminary List of Electors (PLE). This was previously done by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).

In order to vote in a municipal Council or School Board Election you need to be on the Voters' List. To Find out if you're on the list to vote please visit the Ontario Elections website at Registertovoteon.ca. The Elections Ontario Portal allows you to check, update, add or remove your information for municipal, provincial and School Board elections in Ontario. Electors adding, confirming or updating information using Voter Registration will need to provide proof of identity and eligibility to vote which will be reviewed by Elections Ontario.

The period for revisions done by the municipality to the Voters' List is from Tuesday, September 1, 2026 until the close of voting on Voting Day (Monday, October 26, 2026 at 8:00 pm). If a person is not on the Voters' List or wishes to amend their information, he or she must complete the "Application to Amend Voters' List", Form EL 15 to request an amendment to the Voters' List by the Returning Officer or Deputy Returning Officer at the municipality.

The municipal Returning Officer or Deputy Returning Officer shall require proof of identification as prescribed. For a list of the acceptable documents for voter identification please visit the Elections Ontario webpage at ID to Update, Add, Remove Voter Information. Your name and address can then be added or amended on the Voters' List and a Voter Information Letter (VIL) can be issued by the Returning Officer or Deputy Returning Officer.
