Are You on the Voters’ List?

Elections Ontario Portal

In 2024 Elections Ontario became responsible for providing municipalities with the Preliminary List of Electors (PLE) obtained from the Permanent Register of Electors for Ontario, or the “Register”. Previously this responsibility was held by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).

To support this Elections Ontario offers:

  • A direct point of contact for municipal Clerks at Elections Ontario;
  • A website at registertovoteon.ca for Ontario Electors to register for both municipal and provincial elections; and
  • An Election Portal to the Permanent Register of Electors for Ontario.

The Elections Ontario Register is updated regularly using various data sources that includes Elections Canada, the Ministry of Transportation, and the Registrar General, as well as from the Register to Vote site.

In order to vote in a municipal Council or School Board Election you need to be on the Voters’ List. To find out if you’re on the list to vote please visit the Ontario Elections website at Registertovoteon.ca. Beginning May 1, 2026 and until August 12, 2026 the Elections Ontario Portal allows you to confirm, update, add or remove your information for municipal, provincial and School Board elections in Ontario. Electors confirming, adding or updating information using Voter Registration will need to provide proof of identity and eligibility to vote which will be reviewed by Elections Ontario.

Until June 1st, 2026 Electors should confirm / update their school support using MPAC’s School Support Tool to ensure the correct information is included in MPAC’s final data transfer to Elections Ontario before PLE provisioning.

Municipal Updates to the Electors’ List

After September 1, 2026 Electors will need to register with the municipality to update their information. The period for revisions done by the municipality to the Voters’ List is from Tuesday, September 1, 2026 until the close of voting on Voting Day (Monday, October 26, 2026 at 8:00 PM). If a person is not on the Voters’ List or wishes to amend their information, he or she must complete the “Application to Amend Voters’ List” Form EL15 to request an amendment to the Voters’ List by the Returning Officer or Deputy Returning Officer at the municipality.

The municipal Returning Officer or Deputy Returning Officer shall require proof of identification as prescribed. For a list of the acceptable documents for voter identification please visit the Elections Ontario webpage at ID to Update, Add, Remove Voter Information. Your name and address can then be added or amended on the Voters’ List and a Voter Information Letter (VIL) can be issued by the Returning Officer or Deputy Returning Officer.

To check if your name is on the Voters’ List please contact the Municipal Office at (613) 584-2000 or via email at Vote@deepriver.ca.
