Hydro One Work To Be Completed
Hydro One has initiated a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) to refurbish approximately 90 kilometres of the existing 115 kilovolt (kV) transmission line and replace approximately 370 wood pole structures, some of which are located in your community. The scope of work will involve replacing aging infrastructure which has reached its end-of-life.
This type of project is considered maintenance work with relatively minor effects, and is subject to the Class Environmental Assessment for Minor Transmission Facilities (Hydro One, 2016), in accordance with the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. Contingent on the outcome of the Class EA process, construction may begin as early as September 2019 and be complete before the end of 2021.
Hydro One has notified First Nations communities of the Class EA and will also be notifying property owners adjacent to the work areas. A Community Information Centre (CIC) will be held on March 27 at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 517, located at 3583 Petawawa Blvd., in Petawawa, Ontario, to provide interested parties and groups the opportunity to learn more about the project and the Class EA process as well as to provide feedback.
